Every track I can get my hands on…

Starting from the start…

Consider this a work-in-progress with lots of scaffolding. And be patient. I’ve never done this before. I’m going to attempt to embed a playlist featuring as many of the cues treated in the book as I can get my hands on and that don’t exceed to capacity of the sitebuilding software. Stand by.

A Century of Film Music…or nearly so.

You might not think the cue you’re cobbling together now from loops and risers, shapes and gestures, fleeting fragments of inspiration, and the occasional stroke of genius owes much to something like Miklos Ŕozsa’s “Dementia” from Hitchcock’s 1945 film SPELLBOUND, especially given its scratchy, warbly monaural soundprint…but listen again. Then compare it to Mica Levi’s “Andrew Void” from UNDER THE SKIN. There is a lineage here. A lineage of composers trying to use music to describe things that are only experienced in dreams…or nightmares.

The playlist embedded here requires a Spotify account in order to hear the complete track. I’m not a huge fan of the company or the way they compensate the artists whose work fuels its profits, but it is the most efficient way to allow you to hear the music treated in the book.
